Will This Nightmare Ever End?

Just when I thought the American people had finally woken up and realized who was running there government there comes a poll that shows if the midterm elections were held today they would still keep a slim Republican majority in the Senate.

Wow.

Just.

Wow.

If these people vote in these morons one more freakin time I'll simply give up on them, I'll switch to the other side and cheer Bush on. "So you want to cut taxes on the rich and raise it on the poor? Go nuts!" "Banning all vehicles except SUVs? A great idea!" "You wanna go for the first quadrillion dollar defecit? You go Girl!"

Seriously folks, how many times. HOW MANY TIMES do these people need to be screwed over before they stand up and do something about it? I feel like the U.S. is a rape victim who keeps thinking it's their fault and keeps apologizing and supporting their assailant.

It wouldn't be so bad if the U.S. didn't control so much of the major currents that govern the world, but these moronic assholes get to make decisions that screw the rest of us over. And then they wonder why we take such a keen interest in their election, they wonder why we in the rest of the world by a vast vast vast majority supported Kerry and Gore. I know my gas isn't almost twice as much as it used to be because of the Canadian government. Of course we haven't got much room to talk, we elected the Harperfuheror in January.

Update: Republican compares Hillary to Bin Ladin (Hat tip to knb for finding the story)

Now I'm no fan of Hillary Clinton, but......damn.....

I'm with you, it's absolutely mind boggling.

It's as if the voters are in a trance or something...which I guess to a certain extent they are. A fear trance, well orchestrated and perpetuated by Bush and Co.

Perhaps living within that state of fear, the masses have lost any objectivity they may have otherwise had. I don't know. The Americans I know are Dem's and they see it...so I just don't get it.

I'm with Maher, impeach him, on anything, he's breaking the law now and still he is safe.

And you're right, with Harper at our helm, it's hard to crow...but with any luck, the Bush debacle will crystalize who we have as our leader and the insanity will stop.

Picture a cartoon of an entire nation, heads stuffed up their own rears and Bush holding his hands over those exposed rear ends - it gives a proper picture of the introspective mentality of the Us...A, the paranoia that grips them and the leadership that has them under control.

Lawrence Martin had an interesting article on this recently. The problem is many Americans vote for the person not the party in congressional and senate races and incumbents almost never get defeated. In fact only in districts with no incumbent do parties often change. Still with how bad Bush has been, I would argue every Republican save Lincoln Chaffee (he practically always votes with the Democrats anyways) needs to be defeated. Also I should note unlike Canada, all votes are free votes so if a Republican senator or congressman were willing to support impeaching Bush, then I would be okay with them winning and lets remember there are also some moron Democrat senators too.

The other problem is the districting. Since every state gets two senators, this means the smaller states (which are mostly Republican) have more influence than they should. California has 60x as many people as Wyoming, yet both get two senators. With Congress, the Republicans have totally gerrymandered the districts to pretty much ensure they keep control even if they lose the popular vote.
