Two Shots in the Dark

I've started up a completely seperate site from Liberal for Life called "Two Shots in the Dark."

Basically it's a way for me to combine my love of screwing around in photoshop with my love of politics.

Every so often I'll create a new animated gif cartoon about politics in Canada. I even poke fun at the Liberals, the site is intended to be non-partisan and to make fun of all the parties. I figured with all the tension during the election campaign a little laughter would be a good thing.

The Characters:
Paul Martin

When I look at Paul Martin and decide to think in a funny way he always comes off as sort of a used car salesman. I wanted to put a symbol on each one of their shirts, as well as have them be their party color. Harper, Layton and Duceppe were easy as far as coming up with the symbol went, but for Martin it was a little harder. Then I decided to make him a used car salesman.

Stephen Harper

For all the leaders I tried to pick the funniest pics I could find, and the expression on Stephen Harpers face in this picture is by far the funniest of the leaders. Feeding off of that I decided to make the Harper character a chronic worrier, who seems to need a switch to decaf. The cross symbol on his shirt was an obviously easy choice.

Jack Layton

Jack Layton's symbol was also very easy. Everyone who wants to make fun of the NDP calls them socialists or communists, so this was an easy fit. I also personally enjoy making fun of his moustache so I removed his usual one and inserted a handlebar moustache in it's place. As per the symbol Layton's charachter has his own communist army and will be sort of a dictator character.

Gilles Duceppe

The picture I was able to find of Duceppe makes him look really angry. So I decided to make his character in to the typical English Canada stereotype of Quebeckors, spouting off silly French phrases like "Sacre Bleu Tabernac!" and so forth, and also making him really angry all the time. The symbol on his shirt was also very easy to come up with.

So, without further adieu, you can check out the first episode of "Two Shots in the Dark" Saving Private Gilles

I'll post an update here on L4L whenever I create a new episode.
